Bajaj Pulsar 180F: All You Need To Know

Modified On Feb 6, 2019 07:57 AM By Benjamin Noel Gracias for Bajaj Pulsar 180F

All details of the faired Pulsar 180F revealed

Bajaj Auto is set to launch the Pulsar 180F soon as bikes have already reached showrooms and some dealers are accepting bookings for the bike as well. Here’s what you need to know about this new Pulsar 180 variant.

It looks like the Pulsar 220F:

For years Bajaj Auto has been updating their smaller bikes with parts and features from larger bikes within the Pulsar foodchain. It was the same case with the Pulsar 180 with the bodywork and most of the underpinnings lifted off the larger Pulsar 220F and now discontinued Pulsar 200. Well, the Pulsar 180F’s half fairing has been lifted off the Pulsar 220. Hence the similarity.

So how do you differentiate between the two?

Well, the Pulsar 180F gets subtle cosmetic treatment in the form of contrasting graphic lines near the headlamp, on the fairing and the rear grab handles painted in a contrasting shade with a 180F logo on the tailpiece. You also have a plastic bellypan fairing which the current Pulsar 220 misses out on. Of course, there is a smaller 180cc motor sitting underneath the half fairing and the lack of an oil cooler.

The powertrain and underpinnings are the same:

Underneath, the faired Pulsar 180F is the same as its naked siblings. It continues to be powered by a 178.6cc air-cooled motor that makes 17PS and 14.22Nm of torque and is mated to a five-speed gearbox. Like the naked Pulsar 180, it gets fatter front telescopic forks and twin rear shock absorbers, front and rear disc brakes and fat MRF tubeless tyres. Weight will, of course, go up owing to the new fairing assembly.

No ABS!

Surprisingly the new Bajaj Pulsar 180F does not get ABS despite the government mandating new motorcycle models above 125cc have to be launched with compulsory ABS. Well, technically the Pulsar 180F cannot be classified as a completely new model, rather a variant of the Pulsar 180 series. This allows Bajaj to circumvent the law until the April 2019 deadline which requires all motorcycles, whether new or old to have CBS or ABS.

It costs just Rs 1,500 more than its naked variant.

The new Bajaj Pulsar 180 F costs just Rs 86,500 (ex-showroom Pune) which is Rs 1,500 cheaper than the naked Pulsar 180 that retails for Rs 85,011 (ex-showroom, Pune). For Rs 1,500 extra, you get a half fairing with a projector headlamp setup which offers one of the best illumination setups we have seen on an Indian motorcycle. That in itself is a pretty sweet deal.
