Bajaj Pulsar 180F BS6 Launched. Slightly Torquier Than Before

Modified On Apr 1, 2020 01:34 PM By Praveen M. for Bajaj Pulsar 180F

While the power output remains the same as before, peak torque has increased by 0.3Nm

The Bajaj Pulsar 180F BS6 is dearer than the BS4-compliant version by Rs 11,437. Apart from the fuel-injected BS6-compliant engine, the bike also gets a bigger front disc. Its kerb weight has also gone up by 5kg, at 156kg.

The Bajaj Pulsar 180F BS6 has been launched in India at Rs 1,07,827 (ex-showroom Delhi). This makes it Rs 11,437 more expensive than the BS4-compliant version. So what exactly do you get for such a considerable premium?

Well, for one, the motorcycle’s fuel-injected air-cooled 4-valve 178.6cc single-cylinder engine now churns out 0.3Nm more torque than the BS4-compliant version, at 14.22Nm@6500rpm. The peak power output has remained unchanged at 17.02PS@8500rpm, which is pretty surprising as most two-wheelers have witnessed a slight drop in power or torque in favour of cleaner emissions.

Apart from a cleaner engine, Bajaj has also equipped the Pulsar 180F BS6 with a bigger 280mm front disc (up by 20mm). It comes with a single-channel ABS as standard and the rear continues to feature the same 230mm disc as before. The suspension components remain unchanged as well. It continues with the same telescopic front fork and twin Nitrox rear shock absorber setup as before. Like the Bajaj Pulsar 220F BS6, the 17-inch alloys are shod with 90-section front and 120-section rear tubeless tyres.

Thanks to the added emission controlling equipment, the kerb weight has gone up from 151kg to 156kg. The feature list has also remained unchanged. It retains the same projector headlamp, raised clip-on handlebars, analogue-digital combo cluster, split seats and LED tail lamp as before. Overall, the price hike seems a bit too much considering the fact that Bajaj hasn’t justified the premium with any additional tangible features.

As far as the competition is concerned, it goes head-to-head against the recently launched TVS Apache RTR 180 BS6, which costs Rs 1,01,450 (ex-showroom Delhi).
