Modified On Aug 8, 2019 03:43 PM By Gaurav Sadanand for Bajaj Dominar 400

[Update: The Bajaj-Triumph partnership will be finalised on January 24. Know more details here.]

The documentation for the partnership is reportedly in its final stages

The venture will churn out affordable mid-capacity motorcycles for India and global markets. The two manufacturers are also in talks about manufacturing and R&D on Indian shores.  Expect the first concepts to be unveiled at the 2021 EICMA.

Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motorcycles announced its partnership back in August 2017. Now, reports suggest that the official paperwork for the venture is in its final stages and could be concluded by the end of 2019. The partnership is aimed at producing more affordable mid-capacity bikes for India as well as the global market. It is reported that the two brands are discussing manufacturing & R&D as well.

The first concepts from this collaboration are expected to be showcased at the 2021 EICMA, with the production versions set to follow a year later. The exchange of technical know-how from Triumph will allow Bajaj to develop premium multi-cylinder motorcycles over the next few years. That said, the alliance isn’t meant to take a dig at Royal Enfield’s Interceptor 650. Instead, Triumph would continue maintaining its premium positioning, albeit with more cost-effective products thanks to lower manufacturing costs. So expect its bikes to retain a premium price tag.

With this partnership, Bajaj will have access to Triumph's technical expertise while the British manufacturer will be able to take advantage of Bajaj's market reach. With the two combined, the brands could target a wider target audience across the world, especially in the mid-displacement space.
