Benelli 600RR Faired Sportsbike: What To Expect

A recent sighting gives us an idea of what to expect from Benelli’s fully-faired 600RR

After the new TNT 600, Benelli is working on a new faired motorcycle called the TNT 600 R. The new motorcycle is expected to officially debut by the end of the year. Here’s what we expect from the upcoming motorcycle:

It is not a Benelli 600 GT replacement:

Like the Benelli 600GT, the upcoming 600RR is expected to be based on the new TNT 600. While the 600GT was a sports tourer, the 600RR appears to go the supersport way. Unlike the 600GT’s quarter fairing, the 600RR gets full-fairing, clip-on handlebars, and rearset footpegs. It will have a more aggressive riding position rather than the 600GT’s upright touring stance. In many ways, the 600RR is expected to be more versatile than the Benelli 600GT. 

It could be feature-packed:

Other than the fairing, the Benelli 600RR appears to have the same bodywork as the upcoming TNT 600 naked motorcycle. It is expected to share the new TNT 600’s LED tail lamp and LED turn indicators. The front twin headlamps seem to be inspired by one of Benelli’s first faired motorcycles, the Tornado Tre 900 and are expected to get LED lighting. It gets a large windscreen which should be easier to tuck under. Like the new TNT 600i, the upcoming 600RR could debut with a colour-TFT instrument console, keyless ignition, and backlit switchgear. 

It may share the TNT 600’s powertrain:

Interestingly, Chinese documents reveal the motorcycle currently delivers around 80PS from its in-line four-cylinder motor and is not Euro 5/BS6 compliant. In comparison, the TNT 600i delivers 86.24PS and 54.6Nm. We expect the motorcycle to debut overseas with a Euro5/BS6-compliant motor. It will use a 6-speed gearbox. 

Underpinnings could be same as TNT 600:

It appears that the Benelli 600RR uses the same trellis frame, upside-down forks, and side-mounted monoshock as the TNT 600. For braking, it has dual front discs with Brembo radially mounted calipers and a rear disc. It also gets Bosch dual-channel ABS. Like all Benelli motorcycles, the 600RR weighs a hefty 215kg. In comparison, the recently launched Kawasaki Ninja 650 weighs 196kg! Benelli could equip the 600RR with a more premium set of tyres than the upcoming TNT 600. 

Pricing could be competitive:

We expect Benelli to launch the sports bike later next year around the Rs 6.5-lakh mark. That will position it between its competitors, the CFMoto 650GT, Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Honda CBR650R.
