BMW S 1000 RR Gets The Euro 5 Treatment

Modified On Jul 31, 2020 03:55 PM By Gaurav Sadanand for BMW S 1000 RR

The update also brings with it a new Black Storm Metallic livery

The S 1000 RR is available in three variants in India. It’s powered by a 999cc inline four-cylinder motor that makes 207PS, 8PS more than its predecessor. The new colour is expected to be launched in India soon.

The German marque’s litre-class offering has made its final transition to meet Euro 5 emission norms. BMW always likes to throw in a little extra with each update and the S 1000 RR is not different. The update reels in a new paint scheme giving customers a total of three colour options: the standard red, Pro M Sport with HP Motorsport racing colours, and the new Black Storm Metallic livery. The new colour is expected to be launched in India in the next couple of months.

Aside from complying with the strict emission norms, the bike remains unchanged. In India, the BMW S 1000 RR is currently available in three variants: Standard, Pro and Pro M Sport, priced at Rs 18.5 lakh, Rs 20.95 lakh and Rs 22.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively.

The bike draws power from a 999cc inline four-cylinder motor that keeps up with the 200PS+ club with 207 ponies and 113Nm of peak torque. Dial in a massive 11kg weight advantage over the previous-gen model and you have a bike that just flies. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed gearbox with a bi-directional quickshifter.

The hardware side of things is also pretty sophisticated, with the M-package offering the very best equipment. You can read all about it here. In terms of pricing, expect the BS6 update to carry a minor premium over the current price, if any.
