Design

In terms of design, the Honda SP125 has remained largely unchanged apart from the new LED headlight and taillight along with the new graphics. The new graphics on the side panel, fuel tank and the headlight cowl adds a bit of freshness to the whole design. The updated bike retains the muscular styling of the previous bike.

Engine

The major update to the engine is that it is now OBD2B compliant. OBD2 stands for On-Board Diagnostics Version 2 and this system monitors a vehicle’s circuit continuity, misfires, particulate filter and more to keep a check on its emissions and alert the rider about any irregularities. Vehicles manufactured after April 1, 2025 must comply with OBD2B requirements and as such, the Honda SP125 has been updated to be in compliance with those norms.

The rest of the 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine remains unchanged and produces 10.8PS and 10.9Nm. It is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The bike has an idle start-stop system which switches off the engine when the bike idles for more than a set duration of time. This is helpful in increasing the bike’s mileage when stopping at traffic signals.

Suspension, Brakes and Other Details

The Honda SP125 has a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. The braking setup consists of 130mm drum brakes at both ends in the Drum variant and a 240mm front disc brake and a 130mm rear drum brake in the Disc variant. It rolls on 80-section front and 100-section rear tyres with 18-inch wheels at both ends. It has a wheelbase of 1,285mm, ground clearance of 160mm, kerb weight of 116kg, seat height of 790mm and a fuel tank capacity of 11.2 litres.

Features

This department has gotten the biggest changes with the 2025 model. It now has a 4.2-inch TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity for navigation and voice assist through the Honda RoadSync app. It also has a new UBS-C type charging port. It has a silent starter and a side-stand engine cut-off feature as well.

Rivals

The Honda SP125 rivals the likes of the TVS Raider 125, Bajaj Pulsar N125 and the Hero Xtreme 125R

BikeDekho Says

The 125cc sporty commuter has been one of the most competitive ones in recent years. Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj Auto launched the Xtreme 125R and the Pulsar N125 respectively to put up a fight against the TVS Raider. It was high time that Honda updated the SP125 and as such, the bike is better equipped to deal with the competition.
