Modified On Apr 10, 2023 06:54 PM By Aamir Momin for Triumph Speed 400

Starting April, Bajaj handles the Triumph India sales

We already know that multiple mid-sized bikes jointly developed by Bajaj and Triumph have been in the works, these bikes were even spied on multiple times. Now, Triumph and Bajaj have announced that the latter will be handling the British bikemaker’s dealerships across India effective from April 1, 2023.

First, let's talk about the bikes. The Bajaj-Triumph 350 and Scrambler are set to launch later this year and more bikes on the same platform are expected to follow. These mid-size bikes are expected to be powered by a 350-400cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. We expect these bikes to produce somewhere around 35-38PS and 30Nm.

These jointly developed bikes will be manufactured at Bajaj’s Chakan plant. So making use of Triumph’s research and development, Bajaj will be manufacturing the bikes locally. What does this mean? This would translate to cost effective manufacturing as well as competitive price tags of the bikes under Triumph’s label. If there is one thing Bajaj does excellent, is it offers really competitive pricing.

The companies have also mentioned that the launch timelines for the upcoming Triumph-Bajaj bikes will be revealed later this year. Expect the first product to be the Triumph-Bajaj 350, likely to be priced around Rs 2.25 lakh (ex-showroom). It will go up against the likes of Honda CB300R, BMW G 310 R and Zontes GK350.

Apart from this, Bajaj will manage Triumph’s India-wide dealerships and focus on expanding the current 15-city network to over 120 cities in the next two years. That said, the Triumph dealerships will be exclusive to British bikes.
