The bike gets a similar hybrid assist technology as Yamaha's 125cc scooters – The Fascino 125 and Ray ZR 125.
Here’s what the new Yamaha FZ-S Hybrid gets:
The Yamaha FZ-S Hybrid comes with the same neo-retro roadster design as the previous FZ-S model. The new FZ-S Hybrid is now powered by a 149cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine with a hybrid assist, thanks to the addition of the new Integrated Starter Generator (ISG), which works alongside the engine. Yamaha hasn’t revealed the exact specs yet, but we expect the engine and the hybrid motor to deliver slightly better power and much better mileage.
The new FZ-S hybrid now also features an LCD instrument console that displays the speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, tripmeter, gear position indicator, clock and other basic details. The bike also gets a few new features including an automatic start/stop function and a silent start feature along with traction control.
It also gets smartphone connectivity offering call/SMS alerts and music controls, but misses out on turn-by-turn navigation. The bike also gets a new switchgear to navigate through the dashboard and control these features.
The underpinnings of the bike have remained unchanged. It still gets the same 41mm telescopic fork and a 7-step preload-adjustable monoshock. For braking, the bike uses a 282mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc, with single-channel ABS as standard. The FZ-S Hybrid comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped with 100-section front and 140-section rear tubeless tyres. It has an 810mm tall seat and a ground clearance of 165mm. The FZ-S also gets a 10-litre fuel tank and weighs 139kg (kerb).
Yamaha FZ-S Hybrid Rivals:
The 2025 Yamaha FZ-S Hybrid rivals other 150-160cc premium commuters like the Bajaj Pulsar N160, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Suzuki Gixxer, Hero Xtreme 160R, Honda SP160 and Yamaha FZ-S FI V4.
BikeDekho Says:
This new update to the FZ-S’s powertrain would make it more fuel efficient than before, and will also add a slight bump in its power output, at least on paper. Moreover, the addition of a new TFT console and smartphone connectivity features make the bike even more desirable and value for money.
