BS6 Kawasaki Z900 Launched At The Same Price As Special Edition BS4 Model
It still undercuts majority of its middleweight rivals
We have just received some interesting development regarding the launch of the BS6 version of the Kawasaki Z900. The popular inline-four motorcycle has been launched. It was originally set to arrive sooner but disruptions due to COVID-19 has meant that the naked has only just become eligible to go on sale. It now arrives with a price tag of Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom India), which is the same as the final lot of BS4 bikes. The price premium that you now end up paying is just Rs 29,000, which is fantastic.
The 948cc inline-four engine puts out 125PS and 98.6Nm, nearabout the same as the BS4-spec bike. No changes in the six-speed gearbox either. What you do now get on the Kwacker are electronic rider aids. There are two throttle maps, three traction control settings and four rider modes (Sport, Road, Rain and Manual). No bi-directional quickshifter here, though.
For added premiumness, the Z900 also gets LED illumination, a colour TFT dash and smartphone connectivity. The Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tyres are also new and aim to inspire better riding confidence than the older Dunlop D214s. Kawasaki offered all of these updates to the last lot of the BS4 Z900, launching it right at the cusp of BS6 emission norms kicking in.
The Kawasaki Z900 will now go head to head with the Triumph Street Triple R and the BMW F 900 R, undercutting both of its European rivals by a sizeable margin. Stay tuned to BikeDekho.com for further updates on the upcoming Kawasaki naked.
