[KTM has launched its entire BS6 range. Click here to know prices and details]
Should you opt for the environment-friendly option?
KTM has begun rolling out its BS6 stock of bikes starting with the KTM 250 Duke and the KTM 390 Duke. The 390 Duke looks the same as before but there is something new under the skin that should get you excited. However, it now comes at a premium of Rs 5,000 over the BS4 version. Which one deserves your money now?
You Should Buy The BS6 KTM 390 Duke Because…
There is a bi-directional quickshifter now! Yes, for the BS6 version of the KTM 390 Duke, the company is asking just Rs 5,000 more and offering bi-directional quickshifter as standard. Not only does it benefit for sport riding and track riding but would also come in handy when trundling along in the city.
We were expecting KTM to kit it with the same electronics package (lean-sensing traction control, cornering ABS and bi-directional quickshifter) that we now get on the KTM 390 Adventure. However, that would have driven up the asking price by about Rs 10,000-Rs 12,000.
Besides the benefits of clutchless shifting, the 373cc engine makes the same 43.5PS and 37Nm as before -- no loss of output on this edition! The thrilling ride experience would be matched with an equally enticing new grey livery.
You Should Buy The BS4 KTM 390 Duke Because…
It is Rs 5,000 cheaper. The only reason you should opt for the older model is if you want to save some money that you could invest in crash protection items for the bike or for future tyre costs as the grippy Metzelers are pricey. But hurry, as the stocks of the BS4-compliant 390 Duke will be limited.
