Buy Or Hold: Bajaj NS400 or Bajaj Dominar 400
We see if the upcoming Pulsar NS400 will be worth the wait or is it better to just to get the Dominar 400
Bajaj is planning on updating its 400cc lineup with the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar NS400 and the new bike will be an alternative to the currently available Bajaj Dominar 400. This begs the question, is it better to wait for the Pulsar NS400 or just buy the Dominar 400 right now. The best way to answer this question is to first see what each bike has to offer.
Bajaj Dominar 400
The Bajaj Dominar 400 has been the brand’s flagship offering since launch. It features the 373cc engine from the 2nd gen KTM 390 Duke and comes with a sports tourer like design with the windscreen, knuckle guards and tail rack in the rear to mount luggage. The bike was primarily meant to take on the cruiser offerings from Royal Enfield so wasn’t meant to be a sporty naked.
The Dominar’s 193kg is on the heavier side and hence it isn’t as nimble as its competitors in the same segment. Yes, while that does make it a stable tourer, it doesn’t feel as light and flickable in the city, where a bike spends most of its time in.
Bajaj Pulsar NS400
The Pulsar NS400, on the other hand, will likely be a bike with a different character to it. It’ll likely be more of a street naked that will find its place with those who want a light and flickable streetfighter, staying true to its NS roots.
The NS400 will be considerably lighter and easier to handle and could have a bit of hooliganism to it that we so love on the KTM 390 Duke.
In terms of features, the NS400 is likely to get the same instrument console that we have seen on the recently launched Pulsar N150 and N160 and the upcoming 2024 Pulsar NS200.
The NS400 is likely to come at an ex-showroom price which will be significantly cheaper then the Dominar, so something around the Rs 1.7 lakh mark. The Dominar for perspective comes at an ex-showroom price of Rs 2,29,781. The NS400 once launched will be significantly cheaper than its main competitors, the KTM 390 Duke, Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and the Triumph Speed 400.
Which bike should you get?
The question of if you should buy the Dominar 400 or wait for the Pulsar NS400 depends on what you are looking for. If you want an affordable street naked, the NS400 could be worth the wait. But if you are someone who wants to take things easy and enjoy long rides from time to time then the Dominar 400 could be the better choice.
