Classic Bajaj Pulsar To Make A Comeback?
The trademark for the name ‘Pulsar Eleganz’ has been filed, hinting at a possible rebirth of the OG Pulsar
Bajaj Auto has filed the trademark for the name “Pulsar Eleganz” in India. The trademark was applied on March 4, journaled on April 25, and has been accepted and advertised. So here’s what we think it could be:
In 2001, Bajaj Auto revolutionised the 150cc and sub-200cc segment with the Pulsar twins, the Bajaj Pulsar 150 and the Bajaj Pulsar 180. The twins had a distinctly macho yet retro looking design complete with a circular headlight, twin-pod instrument cluster, muscular fuel tank, and sleek tail section. Retro bikes are quite popular in the Indian market, and even till date, a lot of Pulsar fans love the design of the original bike. It would make perfect sense for the Pune-based bikemaker to revive the classic Pulsar with the ‘Eleganz’ moniker, referring to the bike’s elegance. Expect the new bike to have the same design language as the original Pulsar.

In fact, the latter has already been spotted testing back in October 2021, and you can read the detailed analysis here.
The upcoming Bajaj Pulsar Eleganz will likely be based on the Bajaj Pulsar 250 platform, though its engine may be different from the new quarter-litre unit. Additionally, Bajaj had also applied for a trademark of the name “Pulsar Elan” on March 3, but the application is getting processed. We will have to wait and see what exactly will Elan be all about. That said, it could also be that Bajaj might’ve filed two similar sounding names just to be on the safer side in case one of them has any conflict with existing trademarked names. As for the Eleganz, the trademark has just been filed, so its launch is likely to be a good two or three years away.
