After almost a decade, Honda is all set to enter the 100cc segment with their newest offering, the Honda Shine 100. The bike, launched in the month of March, is all set to be dispatched to customers now. In order to price the bike aggressively, Honda had to develop an entirely new engine and chassis.

With the all new 98.98cc single-cylinder engine producing 7.61PS and 8.05Nm and a diamond frame chassis, Honda has managed to keep the kerb weight at just 99kg. Honda is relying on this new engine to replace their legendary “sloper” motor across the globe, and hopes that the Shine brand would do the trick in attracting more customers to their new offering. Fortunately, we did get a chance to test drive the bike and here is what we think.
With an introductory price of Rs 64,900, Honda has managed to undercut its main rival, the Hero Splendor Plus, by Rs.8000. The only question which remains now is whether Honda will be able to replicate the Shine 125’s success in India.
