Delhi Police Score Big This Holi By Issuing 8,550 Challans
Holi and Shab-e-Baraat proved to be a great collection period for Delhi Police this year
During Holi and Shab-e-Baraat this year, the Delhi Police issued a total of 8,550 challans to citizens found riding or driving carelessly. Fines were issued for violations including drunk driving, riding without helmet, and triple riding on a two-wheeler.
On Shab-e-Baraat, the Delhi Police recorded 908 violations. A total of 70 challans were issued for drunk driving, 109 for triple riding on a two-wheeler, 438 for riding without helmet, 22 for driving without seat belt, 42 for tinted glass and 227 for miscellaneous traffic violations.
Similarly, on Holi, the Delhi Police left no stone unturned and recorded 7,643 violations of which 559 challans went to violations involving drunk driving, 698 for triple two-wheeler riding, 3,410 for helmet-less riding, 312 for driving without seat belts, 215 for tinted glass and 2,449 were for miscellaneous traffic violations.

This has also helped in reducing road accidents during the festivals in Delhi by 58 per cent in comparison with the same period last year.
Additionally, the police have also added that accidents have reduced by 20 per cent (from 15 to 12) per day, while road injuries have also reduced by 43 per cent (from 14 to 8) per day.
