Ducati 2020 World Premiere: Ducati Streetfighter V4, Panigale V2, And More!

From the all-new Ducati Streetfighter V4, a smaller Panigale to some wicked new e-bikes; here’s everything you need to know about the Ducati World Premiere 2020

This year's Tokyo Motor Show wasn’t as eventful as we had expected. Most manufacturers benched themselves while others showcased a handful of updated models. But at the other end of the world, Ducati took to the stage at its World Premiere 2020 to introduce a whole gamut of new and updated motorcycles. Here’s everything you need to know just in case you missed out on the action. 

 

The Streetfighter is back!

We’ve all been impatiently waiting for the all-new Streetfighter V4, and Ducati finally unveiled the bike in all its glory at the company’s World Première. As expected, it’s blisteringly fast and the numbers should give you a glimpse of what the bike’s capable of. There’s 208PS of power waiting to be unleashed and a pair of bi-plane like winglets on either side of the bike to keep it from taking off. These winglets generate 28kg of downforce at 270kmph in order to keep the front wheel planted on the tarmac. To put things into perspective, the Streetfighter produces more power than the recently unveiled supercharged Kawasaki Z H2. It’s essentially a Panigale V4 without a fairing and clip-on handlebars. Not to mention, there’s a dozen electronic rider aids to help you tame the bike. A Baby Panigale?

Yeah, you heard that right! There’s new affordable Panigale in Ducati’s lineup. In other words, a successor to the 959. The Panigale V2 (V-twin) looks like a sober version of the V4. While the V2 features a different fuel tank, fairing and a stubby exhaust end can compared to its elder sibling, it carries over the aggressive split headlight and LED tail light. The mid-displacement supersport also gets a new 4.3-inch colour TFT screen along with new electronic rider aids. Ducati also says that it’s more powerful (+5PS and +2Nm), agile and easier on the environment compared to the outgoing Ducati Panigale 959. Updated 2020 Panigale V4, V4 S:

Both the Ducati Panigale V4 and V4 S have been updated as well for 2020. The update includes the addition of winglets on the fairing that produce 30kg of downforce at 270kmph, according to Ducati. It’s essentially the same fitment that’s seen on the V4 R. The faired bikes are now wider than by 76mm compared to the older models while the windscreen is slightly taller than before for better aerodynamics. The electronics package has been tweaked as well in order to improve the overall ride. The 2020 Panigale V4 and Panigale V4 S are expected to be launched in India by mid-2020.    

 

Most affordable Scrambler Icon:

The Scrambler Icon gets a new all-black paint scheme and a new suffix to its name - Icon Dark. As the name suggests, the bike is based on the Scrambler Icon but sheds a couple of features to keep costs in check. As a result, it’s around Rs 64,000 cheaper than the Scrambler Icon in India. The Multistrada 1260 S gets the GT badge:

Ducati has equipped the Multistrada 1260 S with additional kit to make it more touring friendly. This includes panniers, heated grips, fog lamps, a keyless fuel filler cap and a tyre pressure monitoring system. What sets it apart from the other Multistrada variants is the new matte Sandstone Grey paint job with new graphics and a new seat. It packs the same 1262cc engine that delivers 158PS of power 129.5Nm of peak torque. Other notable features include Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) Evo semi-active suspension, Vehicle Hold Control (VHC), four riding modes, Ducati Safety Pack (Cornering ABS Bosch + DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) up/down and Cruise control. 

The bike also gets full LED headlamp, Ducati Cornering Lights and a Ducati Multimedia System (DMS) which can be navigated through a 5-inch colour TFT display. In terms of pricing, it positions itself in between the 1260 Enduro and the top-spec 1260 Pikes Peak edition. Naturally, like most Ducati models, the Multistrada 1260 S is also expected to make it to India. More details available here.

 

2020 Diavel 1260:

Not much to see here the only change the Diavel 1260 gets is a cosmetic one. To be specific, the cruiser gets two new colours -- the standard model is available in matte black with a black frame while the top-spec Diavel 1260 S now features a sporty red paint with a red frame. 

 

Ducati E-bikes:

Ducati also added three new e-bikes to its existing MIG-RR lineup. The MIG-RR gets a limited edition paint scheme with top-shelf components. Customers can also opt for a lower-spec model called the MIG-S. Both cycles come equipped with a Shimano 8000 electric drive motor and Shimano 504KwH battery pack. The two are e-MTBs, but the third version is a hybrid - basically a hardtail with road-going tyres. It gets a smaller Shimano E 7000 motor and Shimano 504KwH battery pack. The three new e-cycles will be on sale in Europe and the US from February 2020.
