Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled, Scrambler Nightshift Launched In India
These Scrambler variants follow the launch of the Icon, Icon Dark, and Scrambler 1100 Dark Pro
Last year, Ducati pulled the wraps off the Euro 5-compliant Scrambler range during the World Ducati Premiere. In January, the Italian marque launched the Scrambler Icon, Icon Dark, and Scrambler 1100 Dark Pro and it is now following it up with the launch of the Desert Sled and the Scrambler Nightshift at Rs 10.89 lakh and Rs 9.80 lakh respectively (ex-showroom).
What’s new in the BS6 iteration of the Desert Sled? Well, apart from a greener engine, new seat and a headlight grille, the bike is pretty much the same as the BS4 model. As an ode to the enduro bikes of the 80s, Ducati is now offering the Sled in a new Sparkling Blue paint scheme.
As for the Scrambler Nightshift, as the name suggests, it is a blacked-out variant of the Scrambler family. Other elements distinguishing it from the Icon include a dragster-style flat handlebar with bar-end mirrors, a flat-ish cafe racer-style seat, and wire-spoke rims.
Both the Scramblers continue to be powered by the same 803cc L-Twin engine producing 72.87PS at 8250rpm and 66.2Nm at 5750rpm. There has been no change in the performance numbers even after the transition to BS6 norms.
At Rs 10.89 lakh, the Desert Sled BS6 is almost Rs 1 lakh more expensive than the BS4 model. The Sled has no direct competitor, especially with the Triumph Bonneville Street Scrambler discontinued. As for the Nightshift, it will face heat from the soon-to-be-launched 2021 Triumph Street Twin.
