Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark Showcased At Ducati World Premiere
Subtle cosmetic updates have been made to the Ducati’s urban scrambler to make it more affordable
Amongst the glitzy power packed reveals of the Streetfighter V4 and the Panigale V2, Ducati also showcased the Scrambler Icon Dark, a new colour variant of the extremely popular 800cc Scrambler Icon. However, instead of being hip and cool like the other two shades of the Icon series, the Icon Dark appeals to those who like their motorcycles to look dark and brooding. The Scrambler Icon Dark is the most affordable variant of the 800cc series as it costs roughly Rs 64,000 lesser than the regular Scrambler Icons.
The side panels of the teardrop-shaped fuel tank continue to sport a brushed metal finish but the main tank itself is doused in matte black and so are the two mudguards. Also different on this Scrambler variant are the round mirrors and conventional bulb-type turn indicators. There are no other changes reported on the bike otherwise.
The 803cc air-cooled L-twin motor is yet to be upgraded for the forthcoming Euro 5/BS6 emission norms. Since motorcycle manufacturers have received an extension to continue selling existing Euro 4-compliant products in Europe until 31 December, 2020; it is unlikely that Ducati will upgrade this engine anytime soon. Hence, the Scrambler Icon Dark might not make it to the country in the first place as the deadline for adhering to BS6 emission norms is set at 1 April, 2020.
