The bike is over Rs 2 lakh more affordable than its sibling, the Panigale V2

Ducati India has continued its launch streak India with the debut of the Streetfighter V2 at Rs 17.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This makes the bike a whole Rs 2.25 lakh more affordable than its sibling, the Panigale V2.

The Ducati Streetfighter V2 takes its design inspiration from the flagship Streetfighter V4. So, you get the same DC Comic’s Joker-inspired fascia and sleek bodywork. In fact, the only thing distinguishing between them aesthetically are the bi-plane winglets which you can buy as an optional extra and the stubby exhaust system taken from the Panigale V2.

And that’s because the engine too has been borrowed from the middleweight supersport. So, it gets the same Superquadro 955cc engine making 155.18PS and 101.4Nm. For perspective, this is almost as much as the recently launched Suzuki Katana.

This engine is cradled in a  monocoque frame with a single-side swingarm and uses the engine as the stressed member. Taking care of the suspension is a 43mm Showa Big Piston USD Fork and Sachs monoshock, both offering complete adjustability. To drop the anchor on this 178kg (dry) beast are Brembo M4.32 monobloc calipers clamping onto twin 320mm discs up front and a 2405mm disc at the rear.

As expected from a Ducati, the Streetfighter V2 comes with a comprehensive electronics suite. It gets a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (6-axis IMU), EVO cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO 2, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO, bi-directional quick shifter and engine brake control(EBC) EVO. All of these electronic aids can be accessed through a 4.3-inch TFT console.

The Ducati Streetfighter V2 goes up against the likes of the BMW S 1000 R which is priced at Rs 18.30 lakh and the Suzuki Katana which comes at Rs 13.61 lakh (both ex-showroom India).
