EICMA 2019: 2020 Kawasaki Z900 Unveiled

Modified On Nov 5, 2019 04:11 PM By Alpesh Rajpurohit for Kawasaki Z900

Is it just a new paint scheme like most of Kawasaki’s 2020 lineup or is there more to it? Read more to find out

The 948cc motor is now Euro 5-compliant.  Power remains the same as the older model.  Gets a new TFT display, rider modes, LED lighting system and more!

While we were waiting for Kawasaki to announce the official specs of the new pocket rocket of the Kwacker family, the Ninja ZX-25R, the bike maker instead unveiled the 2020 Z900. Are we complaining? Heck, no. While most of the motorcycles in Kawasaki’s lineup are making do with new paint schemes, the Z900 has received a major update — something that frankly has been due for quite some time now.

The 2020 Z900 is the latest Kawasaki to employ its ‘Sugomi’ styling, which helps it keep it in sync with other models in the green family. Apart from an all-new front, the updated Z900 gets a new set of LED lights at the front and back. The fuel tank is slightly redesigned and sports new extensions that make it look much sharper than before.

Powering the naked monster is a 948cc motor that churns out 125PS and 99Nm of torque, which is the same as the existing model. What’s more interesting is that the new Z900 is Euro 5-compliant, meaning that it adheres to our BS6 norms as well. Apart from the engine, Kawasaki has tweaked the frame to make it stronger. The suspension and the braking hardware remains the same as the older model.

Feature-wise, it gets Kawasaki Traction Control, three riding modes, Bluetooth connectivity and a new 4.3-inch TFT display, which could be the same unit seen on the new Ninja 650.

As of now, there’s no word from the bike maker, but we expect Kawasaki to launch the 2020 Z900 by mid-2020. As far as its India pricing is concerned, it could carry a premium of around Rs 1 lakh over the current bike, which retails at Rs 7.7 lakh (ex-showroom).
