EICMA 2019: All-new CFMoto 700CL-X Unveiled; India Launch Expected By Late 2020
The 700CL-X is the Chinese two-wheeler manufacturer’s take on a scrambler
Chinese two-wheeler manufacturer CFMoto has unveiled an all-new motorcycle at EICMA 2019. The bike, which is the company's take on a scrambler, is called the 700CL-X. And we're happy to report that it will be available in India by late 2020. The press release from CFMoto suggests that the scrambler will be offered in three variants: ‘Adventure’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Heritage’.
The 700CX-L Heritage features a wide tan leather seat, alloy wheels with road-biased tyres and a dual-tone paint job. The wide handlebars paired with mid-set footpegs should offer an upright and comfortable riding position.
While all three bikes seem to sport the same specification, the Adventure seems to be equipped with a raised handlebar, knobby tyres, spoked wheels and a different seat. The pictures also suggest that CFMoto will offer a bunch of accessories for the bike such as panniers and a tall windscreen. The Sport variant gets a single-tone paint scheme, lower-set clip-ons, track-focused Pirelli Diablo Rosso Super Corsa tyres and a split seat setup.
Powering the CFmoto 700CL-X is a 692.2cc parallel-twin engine with claimed power and torque figures of 75PS and 66Nm respectively. It’s also likely to be Euro 5/BS6-ready and comes paired with a slipper-clutch. To draw a comparison, the 650NK’s 649.3cc parallel-twin engine produces 61PS at 9000rpm and 56Nm at 7000rpm.
In terms of features, all three variants get full-LED lighting setup and an LCD instrument cluster. Braking is done via a single radially-mounted four-piston J.Juan caliper up front with dual-channel ABS. It gets a 13.5-litre fuel tank and tips the scales at 183kg (dry). Expect more details to be revealed closer to launch.
CFMoto’s pricing strategy in India has been phenomenal, and the same could be extended to the new 700CL-X lineup too. This would surely give the brand the upper hand in the competitive mid-displacement motorcycle segment. When launched, it will position itself in between the newly launched Benelli Leoncino and the entry-level Ducati Scrambler!
