EXCLUSIVE: 822cc Parallel Twin Royal Enfield Himalayan Hits The Road
Here’s the feedback after testing out the world’s first parallel twin Himalayan
We have been tracking a unique build happening in Pune: Auto Engina’s genius creation of the world’s first parallel twin Royal Enfield Himalayan. Earlier, we covered how the massive 822cc engine was successfully cranked into life. Well, here’s what has been done since then, as the Auto Engina crew continues to prep this custom Royal Enfield bike for its public unveiling at Rider Mania in November.
Since our last update the monstrous 822cc parallel twin heart has been mounted onto a frame customised for it. Auto Engina has also teamed up with a Pune-based design studio, Autologue Design, for the design and manufacturing of the bodywork.
After revising the engine mounting points, reinforcing the chassis, completing the two-into-one exhaust routing, redesigning the swingarm and revising the clutch assembly hub, this custom 822cc Himalayan finally took to the road for its platform plus engine compatibility test ride.
Post this ride, it was inferred that while the initial torque is feeble, there is a strong mid-range through the powerband, along with reduction in vibrations when compared to the stock Royal Enfield Himalayan.
Now, as Auto Engina fine-tunes the dynamics and Autologue Design works on the erm… design, this one-of-a-kind Himalayan will be getting equipped with parts and mods which work best with that engine.

Tracking this build from its inception has given us very unique insights into the engineering challenges the Auto Engina team has overcome.
And now, as this 822cc parallel twin is ever so close to completion, we will try to get our hands on the bike and give you an experiential report after putting it through its paces during our performance tests.
