EXCLUSIVE: Honda NX200, The Hornet 2.0-based Adventure Bike, Launching In India Soon

Modified On Jul 15, 2021 12:56 PM By Praveen M. for Honda CB200X

This motorcycle is likely to draw inspiration from the Honda CBF190X on sale in China, and the Honda CX-02 Concept

[UPDATE: Honda has launched its most affordable ADV in India, called the CB200X. You can read all about it in our launch report here.]

The Honda Hornet 2.0-based ADV will be more of a softroader than a hardcore terrain tamer. Could be powered by the same engine as the streetfighter. Will likely be priced at around Rs 15,000 more than the Hornet 2.0.

Honda is likely to launch a new bike in August. According to our sources, it could be based on the Honda Hornet 2.0 and is expected to be an adventure bike. The upcoming motorcycle could be called the Honda NX200, going by the fact that the trademark for the name was filed back in April 2021. Expect the upcoming bike to carry a premium of about Rs 15,000 over the Hornet 2.0, which is currently priced at Rs 1,31,182 (ex-showroom Delhi).

It won’t be a hardcore mudplugger like the Hero XPulse 200. Instead, the adventure tourer will be inspired by the Honda CBF190TR (sold in China) and the Honda CX-02 Concept. With these in mind, expect sporty bodywork with touring-oriented ergonomics.

That said, the 17.2PS/16.1Nm powerplant and underpinnings are likely to be carried over from the Hornet 2.0 to keep costs in check. Expect the motorcycle to roll on the same 17-inch alloys as the naked bike. The fairly adequate 167mm ground clearance could also remain the same as the naked. All in all, the Honda NX200 should be good enough for everyday commute and weekend jaunts. To know more about this upcoming ADV, check out our detailed analysis here. The only ideal alternative would be the Hero XPulse 200T

The small-capacity-adventure segment is slowly gaining popularity, and Honda’s upcoming ADV will help the brand establish its presence here. Currently, the Japanese brand offers only one ADV (that too in the premium space), which is the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin. In a related development, Honda also filed a design patent for the Honda CRF300L. Wondering whether it will be launched in India? Well, check out our analysis.
