Thankfully, performance hasn't taken a hit and there isn't any change in displacement either. The only difference is its torque output, which is now delivered at higher revs. To put things into perspective, the bike’s 1043cc inline-four motor makes 142PS at 10,000rpm 111Nm at 8000rpm (rather than 7300rpm). The engine works alongside a 6-speed transmission which now gets a quickshifter.
Kawasaki has updated the bike's electronic suite along with the engine. It comes with three-levels of traction control system, two power modes (high & low), KCMF (Kawasaki Cornering Management Function) which oversees traction, wheelie, slide and engine brake control. Additionally, the 2020 model gets electronic cruise control as standard and a bi-directional quickshifter.
In terms of hardware, the bike uses a fully adjustable 41mm upside-down fork and a monoshock with spring preload and rebound adjustability. It retains its braking setup as well - dual 300mm petal discs and a 250mm petal disc at the rear. The 17-inch wheels come wrapped in Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22 tyres, which is claimed to offer better grip in both wet and dry conditions.
There are minor tweaks to the bike's ergonomics as well. The pillion seat, for instance, has been made thicker and wider, and the windscreen is now adjustable up to four levels. The single-sided exhaust has been redesigned, helps it shed 2kg over the previous-gen model.
