EXCLUSIVE: Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 Spotted Again

The bike looks production-ready, and we hope it launches soon!

The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 has been spied in production-ready form once again, hinting that its launch could happen as early as the end of 2022 itself.

The test mule sports a large non-adjustable windshield and chromed-out crash guards. The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 cruiser test mule was also running with alloy wheels and road-biased tyres. Additionally, the bike also gets touring-friendly laid back ergonomics, thanks to the wide, easy-to-reach handlebar and forward set footpegs resulting in an upright stance, something that last month’s spyshots revealed too.

The Super Meteor 650 was also spied testing with accessories, not just once, but twice, so in typical Royal Enfield fashion, we expect the upcoming cruiser to get a bunch of accessories with several touring-friendly bits. We even heard the bike’s exhaust note in June and it sounded bassy. 

Underpinnings include discs at both ends and dual-channel ABS as standard. Its instrument cluster will likely be a semi-digital unit, just like the one in the Royal Enfield Meteor 350, and it could get a smaller pod, which will be the Tripper Navigation module.

Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 To Get Alloy Wheels Soon

The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 will share the same 648cc parallel-twin air-/oil-cooled heart that powers the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. We expect it to make the same output figures as the 650 twins: 47.6PS and 52Nm, linked to a 6-speed transmission with a slipper clutch.

All in all, the Super Meteor 650 could be the perfect motorcycle to extract the best out of the touring-friendly 650cc platform. This will be the most expensive iteration of this platform yet, likely to be priced at around Rs 3.35 lakh (ex-showroom). The only alternative is the Kawasaki Vulcan S, which is a lot more expensive at 6,40,000 (ex-showroom India).
