EXCLUSIVE: Yamaha MT-15 To Get Bluetooth Connectivity Soon
The updated bike will also pack dual-channel ABS
[UPDATE: Yamaha has launched the MT-15 Version 2.0 in India. From pricing to specs and features, check out the details in our launch story]
Type-approval documents reveal a lot about what’s on the cards for a motorcycle. This time, it’s the Yamaha MT-15 that’s under the spotlight, as the company has applied for a host of changes for the bike.
To jog your memory, Yamaha had already filed for a dual-channel ABS update for the MT-15 back in April 2021.
So what is it this time? Well, according to the type-approval documents, the MT-15 will soon get Bluetooth connectivity, probably courtesy of a new instrument cluster and switchgear borrowed from the R15 V4.
In addition, the MT-15 could also finally get a USD fork with this update, the same as the R15 V4. This isn’t mentioned in the type-approval document, though.
Apart from this, the bike is expected to remain more or less unchanged. It’ll continue with the 155cc single-cylinder motor with VVA, putting out 18.5PS and 13.7Nm.
With the addition of these new bits, the MT-15 will finally get a second wind in our market. However, all of this will undoubtedly result in a price hike. So expect the new MT-15 to retail at Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom), around Rs 3000 more than its current price.
