Harley-Davidson LiveWire Teased: India Launch Soon
The LiveWire is priced at $29,799 (Rs 21.2 lakh) in the USA
It will be brought to India via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. It’s powered by HD’s ‘Revelation’ electric motor and a 15.5kWh lithium-ion battery. Offers a claimed range of 235km in the city. Features top-spec mechanical components, an all-digital instrument console, LED lights and more!Harley-Davidson is all set to take the wraps off the LiveWire in India on 27 August. It's the company’s first-ever all-electric bike and the first of its kind in the premium motorcycle segment in the country. Harley-Davidson India officials suggest that the American brand intends to test the waters first before going all-in. As a result, we could expect the event on 27 August to be a mere showcase rather than a full-fledged launch. Also, considering an eye-watering price tag of $29,799 (Rs 21.2 lakh excluding taxes) and the lack of charging infrastructure, we wouldn’t expect the bike to be launched in India anytime soon.

What makes the bike tick is Harley-Davidson’s ‘Revelation’ electric motor and a 15.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The setup is capable of offering a claimed range of 235km within city limits and 152km while gunning it on the highway. It’s surprisingly quick to charge as well - going from 0-80 per cent in a matter of just 40 minutes and a full charge in an hour, using a DC fast charger. Alternatively, you could charge the bike via a standard household socket and expect a full charge overnight.
The Revelation motor makes 105PS of peak power and 116Nm of peak torque. Harley-Davidson also claims that thanks to the instantaneous power delivery, the LiveWire can bolt from 0-100kmph in just three seconds. And it can do that safely, whack open the throttle and the electronic rider aids take care of meeting that acceleration figure. This comprises cornering ABS, traction control, Drag-Torque Slip Control System (DSCS) which modulates the torque available at the rear wheel and a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU). We’ve already covered the Harley-Davidson LiveWire’s specifications and feature-list, you can read about it in detail here.
