The X440 was initially introduced with an attractive introductory price of Rs 2,29,000 ex-showroom, with bookings starting at Rs 5,000. However, this offer is only valid until August 3, after which the bike will be available at the new increased prices.

Upon its launch on July 3, the X440's introductory price seemed competitive, but its effect was only momentary. Triumph quickly outdid Harley-Davidson by offering its own 400cc liquid-cooled motorcycle at an even lower introductory price of Rs 2,23,000, limited to the first 10,000 customers. Even the post-introductory price of Rs 2,33,000 for the Triumph bike continued to present stiff competition for the X440, given its powerful performance and feature-rich nature.

With the recent premium of Rs 10,500 added to the introductory prices, the top-spec S variant and the mid-level Vivid variants of the X440 are now Rs 46,500 and Rs 26,000 more expensive than the Speed 400. This increase may pose challenges for Harley-Davidson in competing with Triumph in terms of sales since affordability has been a key selling point for both these motorcycles from the beginning. Nonetheless, the X440 is designed to cater to budget-conscious buyers who want to experience the Harley lifestyle, and it is expected to maintain its niche market despite the price hike. Moreover, its rival, the QJ SRC500, remains cheaper than the X440's S-variant by Rs 10,500.

The impact of this price increase on the performance of Harley-Davidson's most affordable offering in the market remains to be seen. As the market dynamics continue to evolve, it will be intriguing to observe how the X440 competes and fares against its rivals.
