The Owl 250 has a twin-cylinder heart with a top speed of 140kmph
Chinese bikemaker Jincheng Motorcycles has released the Owl 250 in its home country. The front of the sportbike is a bit similar to the Aprilia RS 660, with the DRL extending above its headlight. The side on the other hand, is reminiscent of the Kawasaki Ninja 300, with its pointed front, small flyscreen and fairing-mounted turn indicators.
At the heart of the Owl 250 is a 248cc twin-cylinder engine making 27.87PS and 22.5Nm, with a claimed top speed of 140kmph. The engine is paired to a 6-speed transmission along with a slipper clutch. While those figures might be impressive, the KTM 250 Duke makes 2.13PS and 1.5Nm more, despite having a cylinder handicap.
Underpinnings include 17-inch wheels on both ends, with a 120-section tyre at the front and a 150-section one at the rear. There’s an inverted fork along with a link-type monoshock.
Braking duties are handled by dual discs at the front and a single disc at the rear with the added safety net of dual-channel ABS. You have other useful bits like LED lighting and a massive 18-litre fuel tank, making it apt for long journeys too.
As you sit on the bike, you’ll be greeted by a TFT instrument console with a tachometer, engine temperature, odometer and clock readings among others. At 178kg, while the Owl 250 is 8kg heavier than the 250 Duke, its 780mm seat height is a lot more approachable than the Duke’s 822mm saddle.
