The BS6-compliant 125cc commuter from Hero comes in two variants: Front disc and drum
The Hero Glamour 125 FI BS6 drum brake variant is priced at Rs 68,900 (ex-Delhi). Hero has equipped the motorcycle with a new diamond-type frame. It also comes with better ground clearance and suspension travel. The bike gets a new 5-speed transmission, and the motor is 19 per cent more powerful than the carburetted BS4 motor.Hero MotoCorp has launched the new Glamour 125 FI BS6 in the country at Rs 68,900 for the drum brake-equipped version and Rs 72,400 for the front disc brake-equipped variant (both ex-showroom Delhi). Compared to the Glamour 125 FI BS4, the BS6 iteration is dearer by just Rs 1,450. The bike has already started reaching dealerships as you read this, so expect deliveries to commence pretty soon.
It’s commendable how Hero has made a tonne of changes for such a small premium. To begin with, the bike gets a new diamond-type frame. Using this frame has allowed the bikemaker to increase the suspension travel by 14 per cent up front and 10 per cent at the rear. Consequently, the ground clearance has also gone up by 30mm, at 180mm. It gets a front telescopic fork and a pair of shock absorbers at the rear. The bike now gets a front disc as an optional variant whereas the rear continues with the drum brake setup. Hero has equipped the bike with a fatter 100-section rear tyre for better stability.
A new BS6-compliant 125cc fuel-injected motor nestles inside the frame. Hero claims it makes 19 per cent more power (compared to the previous-generation carburetted Glamour). It generates 10.87PS at 7500rpm and 10.6Nm at 6000rpm. Interestingly, this motor, in fact, makes slightly less power and torque compared to the BS4-compliant Glamour 125 FI. It makes 11.69PS and 11Nm at the same rpms, paired with a 4-speed gearbox. But more importantly, the Glamour 125 FI BS6 finally gets a 5-speed transmission. This should help in extracting more mileage.
It also comes with Auto Sail technology, which is similar to TVS’ Glide Through Technology. This feature helps in letting go of the clutch easily without losing momentum at traffic speeds.
Other notable features include a new analogue-digital instrument cluster, which shows real-time mileage readouts and an idle Stop Start System (i3S). The bike is available in four colours and will compete against the recently launched Honda SP 125 (Rs 72,900, ex-showroom Delhi) and the Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon (Rs 66,586, ex-showroom Mumbai). The full specifications are awaited. So stay tuned to BikeDekho for updates!
