Owing to the spread of COVID-19, the government has advised citizens to stay away from public places like malls, offices, and dealerships. Hence, dealerships have been unable to sell their remaining BS4 stock ahead of the April 1st BS6 deadline. In case the deadline is not extended, the dealerships will be stuck with unsold BS4 stock leading to losses worth crores.
The extension, if granted, would give dealerships more time to sell their stocks and hopefully, by then, the coronavirus outbreak would have been contained allowing businesses to return to normalcy. Given the current situation, we hope the Supreme Court offers some relief by extending the deadline.
