Hero Splendor Maker Extends Plant Shutdown Due To COVID-19

Modified On May 10, 2021 03:55 PM By Praveen M. for Hero Splendor Plus

Hero MotoCorp’s temporary shutdown of its manufacturing, parts production, and R&D facilities have been extended to May 16, 2021

Hero MotoCorp had earlier announced a temporary staggered shutdown -- of its manufacturing plants across India, parts plant in Neemrana, and Research and Development (R&D) facility in Jaipur -- from April 22 to May 1. Later, it was extended to May 9, and now, by a week more -- till May 16, 2021. This move is Hero’s attempt to break the chain of the ongoing second wave of the coronavirus pandemic and ensure the safety of its employees.

Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has plants in Haridwar (Uttarakhand), Dharuhera and Gurgaon (Haryana), Neemrana (Rajasthan), Halol (Gujarat), and Chittoor (Andhra Pradesh). The maker of the Hero Splendor says its corporate employees have been working from home, and that the brand is continuously monitoring the situation so that it can resume business once the situation improves.

Hero had earlier stated that production-related losses will be offset in the remainder of the quarter, once plants get back up. We feel this is a sound strategy, considering Hero MotoCorp has always had a volume-oriented business approach. So, with the localised lockdowns in several states perhaps already resulting in inventory stockpiling, this could be a clever way to mitigate losses.

Along with several COVID-19 relief initiatives, Hero recently also launched virtual dealerships for those who may want to buy a two-wheeler post lockdown from the comfort of their homes. Here are the details. In March 2021, Hero registered decent sales, and you can check out the bestsellers from the brand here.
