The Hero Splendor is an extremely common name in the Indian household for being a reliable and economical motorcycle. This explains it consistently being one of the highest selling motorcycles in India for more than a decade now. 

There are quite some motorcycles in the Splendor Plus lineup and you might get confused between them. Here’s a detailed explanation about what each bike is all about:

Base Variant:

Starting at Rs 69,380 (ex-showroom Delhi), this is the most affordable variant in the Splendor Plus lineup. Hero chose to not tinker with the bike’s looks as its familiarity factor plays an important role in maintaining trust with its customers. The bike gets 130mm drum brakes with a self-start system and alloy wheels.

i3S Variants:

There are three variants which Hero has equipped with its trademark i3S (idle stop start system). 

Retailing at Rs 70,700 (ex-showroom Delhi), the base i3S variant is practically the same as the Splendor Plus base variant, with the i3S feature added to it. 

Hero offers a Black and Accent colour scheme for the i3S variant which also retails at Rs 70,700 (ex-showroom Delhi). The overall dark theme of the bike gives it a stealthy appeal. That coupled with the lemon yellow striping all around looks catchy. 

The top-of-the-line i3S Matt Shield Gold comes with a Matt Gold colour scheme that gives the bike a bit more road presence than the other colours on offer. The contrast between the gold and black gives the bike a bit more character. This variant retails at Rs 71,700 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Xtec

At the top of the variants lineup sits the newly launched Splendor Plus Xtec. It comes loaded with features such as a fully digital instrument cluster, a segment-first in the 100cc club. The console comes with bluetooth connectivity, call and SMS alert, dual tripmeters, mileage indicator, and low fuel indicator. It also gets an LED DRL along with four new colour schemes: Sparkling Beta Blue, Canvas Black, Tornado Grey and Pearl White.

Adding to the features list, this variant also gets Hero’s trademark i3S technology (Idle Stop-Start System) along with an integrated USB charger and a side-stand engine cut-off feature. Hero has also equipped it with a bank-angle-sensor that cuts off the engine in the event of a fall. It retails at Rs 72,900 (ex-showroom Delhi), making it only Rs 2,200 more than the base i3S variant. 

That said, there are no mechanical changes in any of these variants. All of them are still powered by the 97.2cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor which produces 8.02PS and 8.05Nm, mated to a 4-speed transmission. The underpinnings, including the telescopic forks, rear shock absorbers and 130mm drum brakes remain the same too.
