Overall, the two-wheeler industry witnessed a downfall and reported a -11.7% drop in sales in June ’19 when compared to the same month last year. The slowdown in sales, which has been attributed to lack of purchasing power and the recent technological disruption, has had a significant impact on monthly numbers for all two-wheeler brands. For a broader view, Hero MotoCorp sold 2.42 lakh units of the Splendor in June 2019 as opposed to 2.78 lakh unit sales in June 2018. On the contrary, the brand gained some ground by selling 1.93 lakh units of the HF Deluxe last month compared to 1.82 lakh in June 2018.

Honda’s monthly sales took a tumble as well as it managed to retail only 84,871 units of the CB Shine in contrast to 96,505 units in the corresponding month last year - a decline of 12 per cent. It’s a similar story with Bajaj who retained its position but dropped in numbers. To put things into perspective, it sold 83,008 units of the Pulsar range last month compared to 71,593? units in June 2018.

It wasn’t all good news in TVS’ camp either as it slipped from eighth to ninth position this month after managing to sell just 37,967 units of the Apache range versus 42,863 units in June 2018, a dip of 11.42 per cent. Royal Enfield remained at 10th position with a 33 per cent drop in sales. It sold 33,790 units of the Classic 350 against 50,426 units in June 2018.
