Here's how the Honda CG125 stacks up against India’s most popular commuter
Hero-Honda CD100's 125cc Chinese version, the Honda CG125, recently got a special edition variant. So let's see how the retro motorcycle fares against its former Indian partner, Hero MotoCorp’s Splendor+ via crisp images.
Starting with the design, while Honda CG125 gets a proper retro look, the Hero Splendor+ does feature a few modern design elements.
The fascia of both the bikes mounts a rectangular headlight with square turn indicators. However, the Hero Splendor+ features a cowl around the headlight assembly.
Moving to the side, you'll see that the design of both the bikes looks almost the same. But there are a few differences: the Hero Splendor+ gets a bigger 9.8-litre fuel tank as compared to the 8.2-litre unit on the Honda CG125. The Hero Splendor+ also gets a silver finish on its powertrain and a chrome exhaust cover, while the Honda CG125 features a blacked-out treatment.
The tail section of both the bikes looks lean, and they feature a rectangular-shaped tail light.
On the features front, the Splendor+ is offered with i3S start-stop technology that switches off the engine as soon as the bike comes to a halt and also in case of a crash. The Hero Splendor+ sports twin circular dials for the speedometer and the fuel gauge and a side-stand indicator. The CG125, on the other hand, only features a rectangular dash that gets a speedometer, tachometer and tell-tale lights.
Powering the Splendor+ is a 97.2cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that puts out 8.02PS and 8.05Nm. The CG125 draws power from a 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor that delivers 9.92PS and 9.5Nm.
The ride of both the bikes is handled by a telescopic fork and dual shock absorbers. The braking hardware is also identical on both the bikes as they employ a drum at each end.
The price of the Splendor+ ranges from Rs 68,590 (Drum) to 70,790 (i3S Drum Matte Shield Gold) (ex-showroom Delhi) and it is available in a total of eight colour options: Black/Silver, Black/Purple, Black/Red, Grey/Green, Matte Shield Gold, Firefly Golden, Beetle Red and Bumble Bee Yellow. The Honda CG125 on the other hand is only available in a Blue/White paint scheme, and it is priced at Yuan 7,480 (approx Rs 89,000).
