But before its official launch, the upcoming off-roader has been spotted in its natural habitat shooting for a commercial. And if you are wondering who was riding the XPulse 200, it’s none other than Indian racer CS Santosh. Yes, the same rider who represents Hero MotoSports in different rally raids including the arduous Dakar Rally. Just to refresh your memory, here’s a quick summary about the XPulse 200.
Powering the motorcycle is the same engine as the Xtreme 200R - a 200cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that produces 18.7PS of power and 17.1Nm of torque, paired to a five-speed gearbox. True to its off-roader characteristics, it gets long travel suspensions as well - telescopic forks at the front with 190mm of travel and a monoshock at the rear with 170mm of travel. The XPulse 200 rides on a 21-inch wheel at the front and an 18-inch wheel at the rear. Just like the Xtreme 200R, the XPulse 200 too will be equipped with a single-channel ABS.
In terms of features, the XPulse 200 will get LED lights at the front and rear, a digital speedometer, Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation system.
Hero had first entered into the affordable adventure-tourer segment with the Impulse, but due to low sales, it was discontinued. Now, with the growing popularity of adventure-tourers in India, the XPulse 200 may prove to be more popular than the Impulse. Hero hasn’t revealed the prices yet, but we expect the XPulse 200 to cost between Rs 1 and 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom). This would make it the most affordable adventure bike in India, with its closest rival, the Royal Enfield Himalayan priced at Rs 1.79 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). However, other options at the same price point include the likes of the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the Bajaj Pulsar NS200.
