Hero Xtreme 160R Stealth Edition: What’s Different?

The changes in the new Xtreme 160R Stealth Edition are more than just skin deep. We explain:

Hero MotoCorp recently launched a stealthier-looking variant of the Xtreme 160R, aptly called the Stealth Edition. Besides the Batman-esque colour scheme, the bike maker has equipped the motorcycle with a few tricks up its sleeve, and we explain how exactly it is different from the standard variant:

New geeky features:

Hero MotoCorp has enhanced the negative LCD instrument cluster with a five-level brightness adjustment feature. This should come in handy under bright sunlight if the display isn’t legible enough. Additionally, the console comes with a gear position indicator. 

The company has also thrown in a USB charging port under the handlebar. However, you’ll have to buy an aftermarket smartphone holder to use the charging port effectively. The standard iteration and its variants do not have any of these.

Hero has still not equipped the new variant with smartphone connectivity, but you can avail one (both for the standard model and the Stealth Edition) as an accessory. This allows you to access features like Geofence and tow-away alert, speed alert, driving score, topple alert, trip analysis, and live tracking. The module costs Rs 4,999.

Stealthy yet premium look:

The Hero Xtreme 160R Stealth Edition comes with a matte black colour scheme with a grey-ish shade on the fuel tank extensions and the central panels. Complementing this is a premium 3D ‘Xtreme Stealth’ logo on the fuel tank and ‘160R’ stickers on the tail panels. The motorcycle also gets a subtle red highlight on the headlamp cowl. Like the standard variant, this one too gets red rim stickers for a sporty appeal.

Same old mechanicals:

Apart from the aforementioned changes, the rest of the motorcycle remains the same as the standard variant. The bike continues to employ a 163cc single-cylinder air-cooled, fuel-injected engine (linked to a 5-speed transmission), producing 15.2PS at 8500rpm and 14Nm at 6500rpm. It also uses the same set of underpinnings (telescopic front fork, rear monoshock, 276mm front, and 220mm rear petal disc) as the rear-disc-brake-equipped variant. 

Pricing:

The Hero Xtreme 160R Stealth Edition is priced at Rs 1,16,660, making it Rs 200 more than the Xtreme 160R Million Edition. The standard variant with the rear drum is pegged at Rs 1,11,610, whereas the rear-disc variant costs Rs 1,14,660. All in all, the addition of new features in the Stealth Edition warrants the small premium, but we’d have liked it had Hero equipped the new variant with smartphone connectivity as standard.
