Hero Xtreme 200S 4V vs Xtreme 200S: More Than Just An Engine Upgrade
Besides the new engine, the new model gets a bunch of small yet significant updates
After the XPulse 200T and the Xtreme 160R 4V, the Hero Xtreme 200S 4V is the latest motorcycle to get the 4-valve treatment. But that's not the only update to this faired motorcycle. Here's the lowdown on what's changed from the 2-valve model:
Engine
The major difference between the two is the 199.6cc air-/oil-cooled single-cylinder engine with 4-valve technology in the Xpulse 200S 4V producing 19.17PS and 17.35Nm. The engine is borrowed from the Xpulse twins, where it produces identical figures. The 2-valve motor in the Xtreme 200S would produce 18PS and 16.15Nm. And while the performance difference should translate to more fun, the 4-valve configuration would not just make it more refined, but also more fuel-efficient.
Ergonomics
The ergonomics in the Xtreme 200S 4V are sportier, with the new raised clip-on handlebars (instead of the one-piece unit from the Xtreme 200S). These new clip-ons make the bike not just visually appealing, but should also translate to an engaging ride experience.
Underpinnings
The Xtreme 200S 4V gets the same telescopic fork and monoshock setup found on the 2-valve model, though it now gets petal discs with single-channel ABS, like the Xpulse 200T.
Design
The design of the new bike is identical to that of the Xtreme 200S but the 200S 4V gets three new colour options: Moon Yellow, Panther Black Metallic, and Matt Axis Grey Metallic, along with sporty graphics. The dual-tone colour scheme makes the bike look sportier too.
Price
With these changes, the Xtreme 200S 4V retails at Rs 1,41,250 (ex-showroom) , a small bump over the Rs 1,35,360 (ex-showroom) price tag that the Xtreme 200S sported. Considering the upgrade in engine technology, better ergonomics and how the new colour schemes look, the Rs 5,890 premium seems well worth it. But with the Karizma XMR 210 slated to debut soon, we reckon waiting for Hero’s first liquid-cooled supersport offering will be a smart move.
