Hero’s Upcoming Electric Scooter Teased!

The teased model seems to be production-ready hinting at an imminent announcement

Hero MotoCorp has teased its upcoming electric scooter for the Indian market at its 10th-anniversary celebration. Dr Pawan Munjal, the chairman and CEO, Hero MotoCorp gave a glimpse of the electric scooter. While an official announcement is yet to be made, here’s what we could make of the teaser:

It seems that Hero will likely offer its upcoming electric scooter as a budget-friendly product rather than a performance-oriented model. Its design approach too seems very clean and modern.

The teaser shows that the e-scooter is equipped with LED lights, a conventional telescopic fork and a drum brake setup. However, unlike most of the electric scooters out there, the upcoming Hero EV has a single-sided swingarm. This eliminates the possibility of a hub-mounted motor setup.

Instead of a single-piece seat, the Hero electric scooter gets a split seat with distinct grooves in between. It could be possible that the rider’s underseat compartment could be used for the storage and the pillion compartment for the removable battery, similar to the Gogoro e-scooter setup. Or, the pillion seat could be removed and used for mounting a top-box, although the e-scooter is less likely to be used for B2B purposes.

Detailed features and specifications are yet to be revealed. But it shouldn’t be a long wait, considering that the teaser model seems production-ready. Moreover, Hero is also working on the eMaestro which will likely take the charge of being the bike maker's first premium electric scooter.
