Honda ADV 350 Gets A New Quarter-litre Rival In China

The aggressive styling of the Longjia XDV 250Si is complemented by a potent liquid-cooled engine

Longjia, a Chinese auto-manufacturer, had unveiled the XADV300i offroad maxi-scooter at the Shenzhen Motor Expo in China in 2021. In an interesting turn of events, the company has launched the Longjia XDV 250Si in its home base, which is basically the same scooter unveiled last year but with a different name and slightly smaller powertrain.

In terms of appearance, the maxi-scooter has retained the same muscular styling with an aggressive body design that completes the entire maxi look and the meaty block pattern tyres (110-section front and 130-section rear) suggest its capability offroad. It still gets the twin LED headlight setup on its fascia, and an adjustable windshield (useful for long journeys).

What’s different is the new powertrain; a 244.3cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 24.4PS and 22.5Nm. At the unveiling, the scooter was powered by a bigger 278cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor dishing out 25PS and 24.5Nm. However, the power and torque output have just a minor difference, but more interestingly, the scooter now has a top speed of 130kmph, instead of the older 124kmph.

It is suspended on the same KYB inverted fork up front and gas-charged twin rear shock absorbers with preload adjustability. The scooter is anchored by a radial four-piston caliper with 240mm brake disc up front and a single-piston caliper with 220mm brake disc at the rear. It comes equipped with dual-channel ABS as standard.

On the features front, the scooter comes packed with a five-inch TFT LCD instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, keyless start, USB charging socket, GPS anti-theft system and real time vehicle location. In addition to that, the scooter also features a tyre pressure monitoring system and electrically heated handlebars.

The Longjia XDV 250Si is priced at 22,980 Yuan, an equivalent of Rs 2.64 lakh here in India. Come to think of it, the scooter offers great value for money considering the features, equipment and performance the scooter packs. However, it will not be heading to our shores anytime soon, but if you are looking for a performance-based maxi style scooter, you can check out the Aprilia SXR 160 and Yamaha Aerox 155. If you are looking for something bigger (and a WHOLE lot more expensive), then the BMW C 400 GT is another option.
