Honda CB Hornet 160R was unveiled at the Honda Revfest in August this year and it comes in the upper premium class of the 150cc segment. Based on the successful CB Unicorn 160’s platform, the Hornet shares most of the equipment with its sibling. If we compare the CB Hornet with the CB Unicorn 160, there are two major changes in the motorcycle- more aggressive styling and wider tyres. However, different styling means a lot and boasts many features like a sharp headlight, ‘X’ shaped tail lamp, new body cowls, masculine fuel tank cover with shrouds, streetfighter type handlebar, split-spoke alloys, sportier muffler and much more.

Talking about the good values, the Hornet will retain much from the Unicorn, the most important one is the reliable 162.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. It is one of the most refined motors in the respective category and is based on the Honda Eco Technology (HET) that claims to provide a healthy fuel economy without compromising on the performance. The mill comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox and it has been retuned to make up to 15.66bhp of power at 8,500 rpm and deliver torque up to 14.76Nm at 6,500rpm.
Adding some other pros, Honda CB Hornet 160R also shares the fully digital console and well-tuned suspension set-up with its sibling. The suspension set-up comprises of telescopic forks up front and hydraulic mono-shock at the rear. The bike gets a new petal disc brakes with 3-pot brake calliper up front, while the rear disc brake is optional along with the CBS. It also gets meatier tubeless tyres comprising of 140/70 section at the rear and 100/70 section up front.
If we talk about the competition, Honda CB Hornet 160R has a wide range of rivals in front that includes Yamaha FZ range, Suzuki Gixxer range, TVS Apache RTR 180, Bajaj Pulsar 150 AS and Hero Xtreme Sports. However, we believe that the new CB Hornet will be a very strong player in the game.
