Honda Hornet 2.0 Launched, More Affordable Than RTR 200 4V!

Modified On Aug 27, 2020 09:50 AM By Benjamin Noel Gracias for Honda Hornet 2.0

This motorcycle is the first 180-200cc made-in-India Honda

It gets an air-cooled, fuel-injected 184cc motor producing 17.23PS and 16.1Nm.  Comes with an LED headlamp, digital instrument console and premium USD forks.  Costs around Rs 30,000 more than the CB Hornet 160R.

Honda India has launched its first made-in-India 200cc motorcycle, the Hornet 2.0. This motorcycle replaces the now discontinued BS4-compliant CB Hornet 160R. It is priced at Rs 1,26,921 (ex-showroom Delhi), making it dearer than the CB Hornet 160R by around Rs 30,000.

The motorcycle draws its design inspiration from the CB Hornet 160R, albeit with tweaks all over to make it look more masculine. The sharp-looking LED headlamp is flanked by premium gold-finished inverted fork (a first for a small-capacity Honda manufactured in India) and large fuel tank extensions. The fully figital instrument cluster of the Hornet 2.0 features a gear position indicator, which is a first for the Hornet range too. It gets a flat one-piece handlebar and an ignition key slot on the fuel tank, unlike the 160cc Hornet's key slot placement near the handlebar clamps.

Power comes from an air-cooled, fuel-injected 184cc motor producing 17.23PS and 16.1Nm, which is good enough to cover 200m in 11.25sec. It works in conjunction with a 5-speed transmission. In comparison, the 160cc Hornet generated 15.09PS and 14.5Nm.

The underpinnings appear to be similar to the Honda CBF190R, sold abroad. This motorcycle gets premium upside down front fork and a rear monoshock. Braking is via a front and rear petal disc brake with single-channel ABS as standard, and the Hornet rolls on Maxxis tyres. Honda offers a 3 year warranty with an option to extend to three more years. Bookings are now open and the Hornet 2.0 competes with other 200cc motorcycles like the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the Bajaj Pulsar NS200.
