Honda CB150 Verza vs Honda Unicorn: Photo Comparo
Is the Verza a viable alternative to the ageing 160cc commuter?
Last week, the 2021 Honda CB150 Verza made its debut in Indonesia and at IDR20,290,000 (Rs 1.04 lakh), it stacks up eerily close to the ageing Honda Unicorn BS6 in India. So, should Honda India consider getting the Verza as a viable replacement to the Unicorn? Let’s find out:
Design
The Honda CB150 Verza continues to be the simpleton of the commuter genre. There are no fancy DRLs or bodywork. The Unicorn, too, doesn’t sport fancy design elements and is a textbook definition of commuters, however, the headlight cowl, the chrome garnishes, render it a slightly premium feel over the Verza.
Engine
The CB150 Verza’s air-cooled 150cc SOHC single-cylinder motor makes 13.04PS and 12.73Nm. On the other hand, the Unicorn BS6, with its 162.7cc manages to put out 12.9PS and 14Nm.
Headlight
Honda Indonesia has equipped the Verza with a simple, circular headlight unit, devoid of DRL or pilot lamps. The Unicorn, however, comes with a modern-looking headlight cowl and pilot lamps. Furthermore, the chrome crown adds to its premium appeal.
Fuel Tank
The CB150 Verza features a 12.2 litre fuel tank, whereas its Indian sibling comes equipped with a 13-litre tank.
Wheels
Honda offers the CB150 Verza with wire-spoke rims wrapped in tubed tyres and even alloy wheels shod with tubeless tyres. The Honda Unicorn only comes equipped with alloy wheels.
Brakes
The braking setup on both the bikes is quite identical. A disc brake with a 2-pot caliper handles braking at the front while a simple drum brake is deployed at the rear. However, the Unicorn features a single-channel ABS as standard.
