Honda Files Design Patents For Its Winner X & NS125LA Scooters In India
A stylish scooter and one sporty enough to be a track racer
Honda from time to time is known to patent its international models in India. In fact, not too long ago the Japanese marque patented the Vario 160 and the ADV350 in India. In a similar fashion, Honda has filed design patents for the Winner X and NS125LA scooters.
The NS125LA is a cute little 125cc commuter powered by a 124.9cc, air-cooled engine churning out roughly 8.9PS and 9.8Nm. In comparison to the Activa 125 (8.2PS and 10.3Nm), the NS125LA makes a bit more power and a little less torque. It also gets modern features like all LED lighting, LCD instrumentation, keyless ignition and USB charging, but it misses out on ABS.
The Winner X on the other hand is a sporty 150cc liquid-cooled underbone scooter similar to what people race at the Asia Road Racing Championship. It rolls on tall 17-inch wheels like a motorcycle and gets a 6-speed gearbox too. It makes roughly 15.8PS and 13.5Nm and is loaded with features like keyless operation, digital instrument console, USB charging and LED lighting all around.

Both these scooters are being sold in China and do not meet current BS6 norms, hence the likelihood of them coming to India is next to none. These design patent filings then appear to be an exercise to protect Honda’s intellectual property like it has with other models in the past.
