Honda Launches Updated 2024 CBR400R And The New NX400 In Japan

Modified On Feb 20, 2024 03:21 PM By Govind for Honda CBR500R

The updates have brought changes to the CBR400R’s design and features while the new NX400 now replaces the CB400X In Japan

Honda has updated the Honda CBR400R and launched the new NX400 in Japan. The updated CBR400R comes with a few changes to its design and features, whereas the new NX400 is an updated version of the CB400X but with a rebrand. With this launch Honda is planning on replacing the CB-X series with the NX series.

Coming to the changes that the new update has brought to the Honda CBR400R. The first thing that stands out is the redesigned front section featuring a new headlight cowl and headlights. The bike now also comes with winglets on its fairing placed on the left and right side along with a fairing on the middle, under the cowl. Other changes in terms of the design include a new tail light section as well. The overall changes made gives the bike a new look, something that is a bit more sporty.

Features wise, the CBR400R comes with a new full-colour TFT display with smartphone connectivity via HondaRoadSync. The functionalities that are unlocked by HondaRoadSync include turn-by-turn navigation and music control. Riders can use the select switch on the left side of the handlebar to navigate the features or do the same via voice command through a headset that is sold separately. Honda has also given the bike Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) which is Honda’s traction control system.

The update is mostly restricted to altering the bike’s design and bringing new features, the performance remains unchanged. The CBR400R is still powered by the same 399cc liquid-cooled inline-twin engine which produces 46PS at 9000rpm and 38PS at 7500rpm.

The NX400 on the other hand is a new bike which replaces the Honda CB400X. It comes with a new design with a typical ADV look, featuring a tall windscreen, a wide handlebar along with midset footpegs.

The new bike comes with the same set of features as the updated CBR400R, with the same colour TFT display with smartphone connectivity via HondaRoadSync and the Honda Selectable Torque Control system. The NX400 also shares the same engine as the CBR400R and produces the same power figures.

Both bikes are unlikely to be launched in India and going by Honda’s recent launch of the Honda NX500, it is more likely that they will bring the Honda CBR500R instead of the CBR400R if they do plan on bringing a new supersport to the country.
