This Tasty Honda Scooter Concept Perfectly Blends The Retro With The Future

The leaked concept could lead to a 100cc  to 150cc retro scooter

We could see a Honda retro scooter next year. Production scooter could get apron-mounted headlamp.  Gets telescopic forks, large wheels.

A series of intellectual property filings indicate that Honda is working on a retro scooter. The images show a scooter with flowing lines and unique elements like a floating windscreen and petal-shaped alloy wheels. Though the country of origin of the intellectual property filings is unknown, such a product would help Honda enter the retro scooter game and we could see a new scooter influenced by the styling cues come in by next year.

The concept design features swooping lines with the side panel faintly resembling the Yamaha Fascino. At the front, you have a minimalistic mudguard with a layered front apron and a unique floating windscreen. This being a concept does not have a headlamp, tail lamp, turn indicators or a rear number plate holder. The production version could have a slim LED headlamp between the creases of the front apron or even a circular or oval headlamp integrated into the bodywork to keep up the retro effect. The sharp tail section might make way for a slightly cluttered one with grab rails, a tail lamp assembly and a number plate holder.

The concept’s compact dimensions feel suitable for a 125cc to a 150cc production scooter. In terms of underpinnings, the production spec version could have large 14-inch alloy wheels, telescopic forks and a monoshock. For braking, the concept appears to have a front disc and a rear drum setup.

With the Indian market being big on scooters, it is highly likely that if Honda were to make a retro scooter, it could be launched here. Also despite its vast scooter range, Honda India does not have a retro looking scooter especially when the competition has scooters like the Vespas, Suzuki Access 125 and Yamaha Fascino. Plus we would really like to see a retro 125cc Honda scooter sometime in the future.
