Honda Shine Sales Reach 1 Crore Milestone

Modified On Jan 19, 2022 04:55 PM By Aamir Momin for Honda Shine

The Honda Shine is the first 125cc motorcycle in India to reach the one crore sales mark

Honda Shine was first launched in the year 2006. It got its first major update in the form of a BS6 engine in 2019. Prices start from Rs 74,943 (ex-showroom Delhi).

The humble Honda Shine has achieved the one crore sales milestone since its initial launch 16 years ago. This also makes it the first motorcycle in the 125cc segment in India to reach the one crore sales mark.

Since its initial launch, the Shine brand has received multiple upgrades but Honda made sure the motorcycle is instantly recognisable throughout generations. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing as its target customers loved the familiarity factor that came with Shine’s matured design. The styling coupled with its refined engine and bulletproof build quality made it the go-to bike for customers in the 125cc segment.

The motorcycle witnessed its major update in 2019 when it became the first Honda bike to get a BS6-compliant engine. Apart from subtle design tweaks and a cleaner all-new motor, the Shine also received a much-needed five-speed gearbox, along with useful features including a silent starter, side-stand engine cut-off, and engine kill switch.

Currently, Honda claims the CB Shine makes for more than 50 per cent of the market share. That’s a pretty commendable feat considering it managed to, err… outshine its rivals including the Hero Super Splendor, Hero Glamour range, Bajaj Pulsar 125, and the more recent TVS Raider 125. According to YTD (year to date) data by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the CB Shine has shown a year on year growth of a whopping 29 percent.

Honda offers the Shine in two variants: front drum (Rs 74,943) and front disc (Rs 78,842, ex-showroom Delhi). If you’re looking for a more stylish and feature-packed alternative, Honda also offers the SP 125 for slightly more money.
