Husqvarna Showcases The E-Pilen Electric Motorcycle Concept
The latest e-motorcycle will employ swappable battery technology
The rate at which e-mobility has been progressing is impressive, to say the least. The latest brand to make a move in the EV market is Husqvarna Motorcycles with its E-Pilen concept. If the name isn’t already a giveaway, know that the upcoming e-motorcycle takes inspiration from its petrol stablemates.
The neo-retro styling is similar to that of the existing Vitpilen and Svartpilen models. The E-Pilen gets a round headlight, fuel tank with extensions, chopped rear fender, and a wide handlebar. The concept gets an output rating of 8kW and a maximum range of 100km.
The E-Pilen is an offering from Husqvarna’s parent company Pierer Mobility, which partly owns KTM and GasGas. Owing to KTM’s tie-up with Honda, Yamaha, and Piaggio for swappable battery technology, Husqvarna will also equip the E-Pilen with a mutually swappable unit. This will not only keep running costs in check but also save hours that would’ve otherwise been spent on recharging a non-removable battery.

Braking hardware consists of a front and rear disc setup. We are hopeful that Husqvarna will carry over major design and mechanical bits from the concept over to the production model.
We don’t see the Husqvarna electric motorcycle coming to India anytime soon, considering the brand is focusing on the Svartpilen and Vitpilen range. Also, an extensive network of battery charging/swapping stations is a prerequisite for it to be launched, which could take a couple of years.
