This new Hornet promises to sting its competition; check it out in 8 pictures
Honda has dropped jaws at Intermot 2022 in Cologne, Germany, by finally stirring the Hornet’s nest. The 2023 Honda CB750 Hornet has finally been unveiled and initial impressions show that this bike packs a deadly sting.
The 2023 Honda CB750 Hornet features an all-new design, a far cry from the OG Hornet’s retro look. It packs a striking sharp fascia that is illuminated by LEDs, that complements the muscular fuel tank.
This bike also features Honda’s patented Vortex Flow Duct system, designed to funnel air efficiently through the side scoops into the airbox.
Powering the CB750 Hornet is an all-new, liquid-cooled, 755cc, eight-valve parallel twin mill producing 91.77PS at 9500rpm and 75Nm at 7250 rpm. This engine is paired to a six-speed gearbox along with a slip and assist clutch.
Top speed, according to Honda, is 205kmph. It also gets four ride modes – Sport, Standard, Rain and User – along with three-level Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), three levels of engine braking and wheelie control.
The CB750 Hornet weighs just 190kg, which Honda has mainly achieved thanks to a lightweight steel diamond chassis that weighs 16.6kg. Suspension consists of an upside-down, 41mm Showa SFF-BP fork and a monoshock in the back with only pre-load adjustability.
Braking duties are shared by dual 296mm discs with radially-mounted Nissin four-piston callipers up front and a 240mm disc with a single-piston calliper setup. It gets the safety net of dual-channel ABS, and rolls on a pair of 17-inch cast aluminium wheels.
On the features front, this bike comes equipped with a five-inch TFT instrument display, with Honda Smartphone Voice Control (HSVC), auto-cancelling turn indicators and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) technology.
Available in four colours – Graphite Black, Pearl Glare White, Matte Iridium Grey Metallic and Matte Goldfinch Yellow – the 2023 Honda CB750 Hornet is priced at GBP 6,999, approximately Rs 6.47 lakh. In comparison, the Triumph Trident 660 is priced at GBP 7,695 (Rs 7.11 lakh), and produces lesser power than the Hornet.
It is unlikely that this bike will be launched in India, making the Trident 660 the way to go if you’re looking for a potent middleweight bike.
