Kawasaki Electric And Hybrid Motorcycles Confirmed For 2022
The Japanese bikemaker plans to launch as many as 10 electric and hybrid motorcycles by 2025, with an eye on going fully green by 2035
At EICMA 2021, Kawasaki confirmed that it will introduce three electric/hybrid motorcycles by the end of 2022. It is no secret that the Japanese bikemaker has been experimenting with alternative fuels, releasing timely updates on the same.
Last year, the world got the first glimpse of the Kawasaki Endeavour, an electric bike with a four-speed gearbox. The prototype showcased also featured a chain final drive instead of the conventional belt-drive system. Though Team Green has yet to reveal all the specifications, some reports suggest Kawasaki may use a BLDC motor with a peak output of 19kW.
The Kawasaki Endeavour prototype is clearly based on the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and shares the same chassis and underpinnings.
Another offering from Kawasaki that we may see next year is its hybrid motorcycle, for which the bikemaker has already filed a trademark under the name ‘E-boost’. While the company hasn’t revealed any details yet, it will probably not be a micro-hybrid system, unlike the Yamaha RayZR 125 Hybrid and Fascino 125 Hybrid.
Here’s a little context. In October this year, Kawasaki announced its plan to go all-electric by 2035 in Japan and some other foreign markets. Furthermore, the bikemaker also stated its intent to launch as many as 10 electrics and hybrid motorcycles by 2025. Going by the recent development, we reckon Kawasaki's ambitious plan is on course.
But will we see the EVs in India? It is highly likely, given that the company has constantly been bringing new models to our market. That said, we believe the electric and hybrid Kawasakis will come here a few months after their international debuts.
