Kawasaki Eliminator Looks All Set To Make A Comeback

This Kwacker cruiser is slated to make its public debut in Japan on March 17

A long-gone name is all set to be resurrected as the Kawasaki Eliminator is likely to be unveiled at the Osaka Motorcycle Show in Japan on March 17. A teaser of this sporty cruiser was also dished out on Kawasaki Thailand’s social media channel, about it being showcased at the Bangkok International Motor Show on March 22.

The Kawasaki Eliminator will be positioned below the Vulcan S and is likely to be available in two powertrains – 250cc and 400cc mills. The 250cc powertrain is likely to be the same parallel twin engine seen on the Southeast Asia-spec Ninja 250. The Eliminator may also get the same 400cc parallel twin mill from the Ninja 400 and Z400, helping it meet A2 licensing norms in Europe too.

The Eliminator was sold in many avatars from its introduction in 1985 to its demise in 2007, during which it came with engines varying from 125cc to 1000cc. In India, the Eliminator was a 175cc cruiser, born from a collaboration between Bajaj and Kawasaki. The Eliminator served as the base out of which spawned the Bajaj Avenger in 2005.

Would the Eliminator hence make a comeback to India with Royal Enfield in its sights? The 250cc variant is highly unlikely to be launched here to give the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 a run for its money. The 400cc version could go head-to-head with the Super Meteor 650 after all; however, it would be an expensive proposition.
